Week 10 - Reflection

TENTH WEEK REFLECTION

Hi everybody,

This week, it is our last week as students of “Webskills”. From now on, we have to apply everything we have learned on technology for the benefit of our students. What I liked most of this course is to have learned to use Blogs, The ABCD objective, Webquest, delicious, interactive PowerPoint, but above all the opportunity to exchange ideas with my classmates from around the world and especially the support of our dear Donna who is an example of a good teacher. She is my role model now. I think I am going to use some of her strategies with my own students. As I commented on Garri’s Blog; my friends, this is not a goodbye, it is just “see you …By the way, I’d like to keep in touch with all of you through our e-mail addresses. Week Nine - Reflection

NINTH WEEK REFLECTION

Hi everybody,

This week, I read some articles about how to use technology to enhance “Learning Styles” and “Multiple Intelligences”. I knew something about these topics, but it is the first time that I discovered how to improve them with the help of Technology. I think we are lucky to learn these things because now, we can have better, modern, and dynamic classes.

We are about to conclude our course, for I’ve already sent my Final Project Plan Report. I feel a little sad because our “Community” comes to an end; I only hope that we can keep in touch after we finish this wonderful course. I believe we have many things to share, so many teaching experiences and why not? Personal experiences, too.

Week Eight - Reflection

EIGHTH WEEK REFLECTION

Hi everybody,

This week, I learned how to make exercises online. First, I created a “Survey” using “Tools for educators” http://www.toolsforeducators.com/ then; I made a “Fast Test” using “Easy Test Maker” http://www.easytestmaker.com/default.aspx. It was the first time I created some exercises in this way, I mean using online resources, but let me tell you that I liked very much, so from now on I’m going to create my Academic tools using these resources.Finally, I explored ANVILL and how to Create a Nicenet class. This exploration helped me to refine my Project Plan to the point that now I think I am going to use Nicenet to provide my students information or instructions on what activities to do the same way Donna does with us.

Week Seven - Reflection

SEVENTH WEEK REFLECTION

Hi everybody,

This week the reading of the articles on Learner Autonomy and one - computer classroom made me aware of the importance of promoting Autonomy in our students so that they can become responsible of their own Learning Process. It is also important to see the different activities we can create for our students with a single computer in our classrooms. In my Institution we practice the philosophy of providing autonomy to our students and we always count on a computer in our classrooms, but I think it became a kind of routine for me since having a computer and promoting autonomy are common practice for us. Well, after reading the articles previously mentioned, I discovered I had lost many opportunities to put in practice many activities with the computer, so now thanks to these articles I am going to implement more engaging classes for the benefit of my students.

SIXTH WEEK REFLECTION

Hi everybody,

This week I had the opportunity to read about “Teaching Large Classes”. This article was very engaging to me because as I commented on Nicenet , sometimes I give lectures to the English teachers of my city and the number of people who attend to the Lectures is huge so I have to present the Lectures and “Workshops” in the auditorium of my institution. Well, since there are a lot of people in this place I have to see the best way to reach to each one of them. I think the tips suggested for this article are going to be very useful for me as well as the use of interactive PowerPoint presentations to capture the attention of everybody.

Comment on Project Task 4 - Implementing a change with Technology

Hi everybody,

As I mentioned, before I am not going to do a Project, but a Plan because I don’t teach the same students for more than a month, so Donna recommended my doing of a Plan. Well, I think I said I am considering using blogs to get my students to be engaged in the writing of Essays in the “Writing Academic English” course I teach from time to time.  The students find this course sometimes boring and feel that the topics to write their Essays suggested by the textbook are not encouraging enough. I’ve been searching the net and I found some interesting websites related to Academic Writing. Week 5 - Second Refkection

FIFTH WEEK – SECOND REFLECTION

Hi everybody,

I am happy to announce that I was able to create my very first webquest, the URL is : www.zunal.com/webquest.php?w=120486. I am just starting to know this tool so I beg your pardon if there are some mistakes. I’d like to receive your feedback on my webquest. I really need to learn more on this tool, for I feel is going to be very useful for my students, especially for the Advanced Level. To create this webquest took two days, but I think it worths the effort.

FIFTH WEEK – REFLECTION

This week has been a little difficult for me because I got sick. My kidneys were bothering me; I think I have a kind of “stones” inside them. Well, anyway; this week I posted my Rubric on line (I’d never done that before. I had all my Rubrics on paper. I also read about Projects and how these ones help our students to become more independent from the teacher. Actually, I am in some way familiar with Projects because in my institution we evaluate our students with the presentations of Projects every month. Finally, I am considering in the technological change I have to use to help my students with their problem of lack of interest in “Writing Academic English”.

By the way, I cannot post comments in some Blogs, especially in the ones that in the section of “Select Profile” doesn’t have NAME/URL.

FOURTH WEEK – REFLECTION

Well, this week I’ve begun to consider in what to do to improve my classes through technology. As Donna suggested, I think I have to do a Plan because it is not possible for me to do a Project since I don’t teach the same students for more than a month. I liked to read the website about Writing, especially the one about Writing Argumentative Essays, for This skill is my favorite to teach. I found a kind of complicated to write the Lesson Plan because in my country we use a different lesson Plan template. Well, I believe it is a matter of getting used to.

Third week Reflection

THIRD WEEK – REFLECTION

Well, this week I’ve learned to create my Delicious account. This service is something new to me, so I feel that I have to practice more how to get the best of it. I also read some articles about Aural/oral skills. I found the comments very useful and informative. I discovered that Listening is a very important skill to teach, but it is neglected the most of the time. Finally, I have to say that I am considering to change the theme of my Projaect thanks one of the example I read the one that belongs to  Aleyda Linares

Second week - Reflection

SECOND WEEK – REFLECTION

What I’ve learned this week is great for me; for I’ve learned to search for information on internet through some engines, especially NOODLETOOLS. I was really happy for this discovery that I started to look for more and more, not only using Google, but also using Yahoo, and Bing. I also used the ABCD Objective to prepare a model of an objective of one of my classes; by the way, I used to focus my objectives in a different way, but now I think I am going to use the ABCD Objective from now on because it really works. I tried It with one of my classes and I was happily surprised with the results. I was able to wrap up my class of that day easily and meaningfully. Well, finally I gave the first step on my Project preparation. I’d like to receive a feedback on this issue, please.

Webskills- Reflexion

As Leticia from Mexico told me,I am eager to learn new things,new technology to teach others this wonderful language that is called English. Through this language I was able to meet interesting people and to visit many countries The USA among others. I hope with the help of everybody to master in the use of blogs to help my students in their daily classes.
