FIFTH WEEK – REFLECTION
This week has been a little difficult for me because I got sick. My kidneys were bothering me; I think I have a kind of “stones” inside them. Well, anyway; this week I posted my Rubric on line (I’d never done that before. I had all my Rubrics on paper. I also read about Projects and how these ones help our students to become more independent from the teacher. Actually, I am in some way familiar with Projects because in my institution we evaluate our students with the presentations of Projects every month. Finally, I am considering in the technological change I have to use to help my students with their problem of lack of interest in “Writing Academic English”.
By the way, I cannot post comments in some Blogs, especially in the ones that in the section of “Select Profile” doesn’t have NAME/URL.

Dear Esteban,
ReplyDeleteI am sorry to hear you have not been feeling well. I imagine your week's tasks got more complicated with that.
So your institution requires you to evaluate through projects every month. Is this something every instructor has to do? or only certain subjects? is it fit in the program or is it a practice you make publicly?
I am sure you will come up with an effective idea to implement technology to increase motivation.
Regards,
Letty
Hi Esteban,
ReplyDeleteI feel so sorry to hear you are not well. It must be the hard work we are doing. I hope you get well soon.
I agree with you that the traditional way of making rubrics is both time- and effort-consuming. Web rubrics are much more easier and comprehensive.
Writing is not not problematic to your students. It is usually so with almost all students. I remember when I was a college student when I had to gaze at the blank sheet for several minutes before trying to jot down my ideas from scratch. My colleagues used to say how I was good in writing. However, I don't believe that even now I can write well. That's a problem. So, never bother if your students are making many difficulties to you when they come to write.
Best
Garri.
